The Swiss Water Process
Unplugged is decaffeinated using the Swiss Water Process. This method uses water, green coffee extract and activated charcoal instead of conventional chemical solvents, preserving the coffee’s character while removing over 99% of its caffeine.
- Green coffee beans are prepared using water and green coffee extract.
- The caffeine is captured through specially prepared activated charcoal filters.
- The process continues until more than 99% of the caffeine has been removed.
- The beans retain the flavour compounds that give the coffee its aroma, body and distinctive character.
